organic-leafThe European Commission has launched a call for tenders for a study entitled "Use and efficiency of public support measures addressing organic farming". The maximum budget attributed to this project is € 250 000. The deadline for submitting offers is 16 September 2010.
The purpose of the study is to identify and analyse key issues in the design and implementation of the public instruments in use in the organic food and farming sector, in view of putting forward relevant conclusions for the future development of the policy.

In particular, the study is expected to provide an in-depth description, review and assessment of the public instruments used to support the development of organic agriculture in the European Union, and the level of support offered.
The study will analyse the inter-actions between the different instruments and examine how the mix of instruments in different countries and regions is related to the evolution of the supply of organic products and the conversion to organic farming. On the basis of this analysis, the study will identify effective support models (best practises) for organic farming.

The maximum budget attributed to this project is € 250 000. The deadline for submitting offers is 16 September 2010.

The Commission intends to award the contract by the end of 2010, following the evaluation of the offers received. The contractor will have to carry out the study within 10 months from the signature of the contract.
